Welcome to my site! My name is Dr Matthew Hayes. I am an ecologist interested in how plant communities respond to global change. My research focuses primarily on the impact of global change on riparian and wetland communities, including mangrove forests and salt marsh habitats.

I am interested in the effects of a changing climate on habitat and species range expansions. I also study the effects of eutrophication on coastal wetland systems, how arid zone coastal plants utilize available water sources, and the storage of carbon within coastal ecosystems.
